Early Does It

I hear landscaper leaf blowers roar in the distance, scattering one neighbor’s leaves onto another. It’s a noisy way to clean up one’s yard, so early on a Saturday morning, it’s 7 am! It didn’t take long for a few neighbors to fill the street, coffee cups in hand, slippers on feet, they all wanted to have a word with the workers who just wanted to get their job done. The landscapers ended up sitting in their trucks until 8 am when they ventured out to try again. I see both sides with this one, but seeing as our world is severely understaffed with minimal communication, what more can you do? If this was a garbage issue, the outcome would be different, you’d see people in the street directing said workers to the piles of garbage they want to be taken away! You probably have a story of inconvenience, too, but why don’t we reframe this as an opportunity to live with love? We are called to love one another, to walk in love. Mark 12:13 says “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Such a great verse to lean on the next time you’re having an earlier morning than usual.
