Church Can Happen Anywhere

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body.”

That’s a great motivating verse for whatever type of exercise you do or think about doing.

Your workouts can give glory to God. You can pray while you walk around the block or just talk to God while you bike ride or lift weights the possibilities are endless.

I need a set time to show up and sweat, I’ve found that working out with the same group of people forms a unique bond of understanding. There is a shared common knowledge and your goal is similar. When you grow accustom to seeing the same people punch through the same workout of choice there’s an odd sense of comfort.

The Cross Fit gym and the Hot Yoga studio I attend both have a culture of people that support one another without any hidden motive. Both establishments seek for all who enter their gym to feel welcome and to leave feeling empowered, not defeated in any way. All of our doors should be open so wide.

It’s good to see a smiling face when you’re about to challenge yourself physically. It’s good to see a smiling face anytime!

CrossFit offers a Work Out of the Day known as a WOD. You can scale and track your performance and keep up with your accomplishments through the ‘wodify’ computer and through your gym buddies. They remember and we gauge our progress and daily sweat based on how someone else is performing too.

Most of the workout places I’ve been to welcome all and as soon as your newbieness wears off you have a better experience.

It’s we who feel a little detached in the beginning due to the unfamiliarity or by some unnecessary expectation we place on ourselves but once that support kicks in and you are rowing or flowing and running to the finish.

This sounds a little like church doesn’t it? Church can happen anywhere. I think about this while playing songs on The Fish while picturing you possibly in a car (headed for the gym :))

Fish music can keep you attached no matter what your working out that day. Burpees and rope claims are optional.
