Two Daffodils
One chilly morning, as the weight of the world seemed to bear down upon me, I stepped out of my house, consumed by a whirlwind of emotions. The brisk air greeted me, I was grateful I wore my winter coat. With my head bowed and fists clenched, I hurried towards a familiar walking loop near my neighborhood, seeking refuge.
Every step offered a momentary reprieve from the chaos of life. I found myself lost in a silent conversation with God.
As I turned a corner, my eyes were drawn to a sight that halted me in my tracks – two daffodils, defiantly emerging from the frozen ground beside a mailbox. Their vibrant yellow petals stood out against the bleak backdrop of winter, swaying gently in the cold breeze. At that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of grace.
It was as if those resilient flowers were a tangible manifestation of hope, a reminder that even in the harshest of conditions, beauty and new beginnings can still bloom. I couldn’t help but smile, feeling as though I had been seen by God in that simple encounter.
In the presence of those daffodils, I found reassurance that amidst life’s trials and tribulations, there are always moments of peace and renewal waiting to be discovered. With a heart full of gratitude, I whispered a silent thank you to God.
As I resumed my walk, the weight of the world felt a little lighter, and the path ahead seemed a little clearer. With each step, I carried with me the memory of those resilient daffodils and this verse: Song of Songs 2:11-13 “See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, and the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me.”
