It’s A Wonderful Life

My absolute favorite Christmas Movie is the Frank Capra classic, It’s A Wonderful Life.  It may be my favorite anytime movie, too, why?

There is a weird duality with Christmas, overwhelming joy and family time, but for some it is the most depressing time of the year.  It was for George Bailey.  Through trials of life and circumstance, he thought it would have been better if he had never been born.  Ever felt that way?  I’ll admit I have, even at Christmas!  But what happens in the movie happens every day in our lives if we just think about it.

George Bailey is granted the gift of seeing what life would be without him.  If you remember from the movie, it was pretty bleak.  Through that darkness, he saw the positive effect he had on the whole town!

The next time you have one of those “never been born” moments, reflect on all the lives you’ve touched.  Just like the movie it will reaffirm that God has a plan for each of us.

As we celebrate the birth of God’s son, Jesus, who was born for the ultimate purpose for us, let us remember God has and continues to have a purpose for us, too.  Merry Christmas!
