Legacy

I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to You enough
To make a mark on things?…from Legacy by Nichole Nordeman

I say it often because I’m on-air while most of us are at work.  What you do matters.  But I’m not just talking about your job.  The words of “Legacy” came crashing home to us a few weeks before Easter.  Our beloved friend and coworker, Gerald Tisdale, was taken from us in a senseless act of violence.  I knew Gerald as an IT professional who was really good at his job.  But he won’t be remembered as a fantastic tech guru…even though he was.

He will be remembered as kind, friendly, approachable – he didn’t make you feel small or dumb when you had a computer problem (even when it was my own fault 🙂 – he sincerely wanted to help.  He loved Jesus and showed it in everything he did.  He loved his family.  He loved his friends and coworkers.  He will be remembered as loving well and pointing us to the love of Jesus – the ultimate Legacy.
